Short answer: Use etims.kra.go.ke for the eTIMS Taxpayer Portal, ecitizen.kra.go.ke for KRA services and eCitizen invoicing, and itax.kra.go.ke for iTax tax-account services. Check the domain before entering your KRA PIN, password or OTP. Risiti is a separate commercial product and is not a KRA login page.

How to Log In to the eTIMS Taxpayer Portal

Open etims.kra.go.ke directly. KRA's current portal and registration guide use the taxpayer KRA PIN as the User ID and the password created during eTIMS sign-up.

If you have never signed up for that portal, choose its Sign Up option rather than repeatedly trying an iTax or eCitizen password. Complete the PIN verification and OTP checks shown by KRA.

Reset an eTIMS Portal Password

  • Open etims.kra.go.ke and choose Forgot password. KRA identifies this as the recovery route for the taxpayer portal.
  • Use the seller's KRA PIN and complete the identity checks requested by that recovery screen. Do not put your iTax password into the eTIMS password field.
  • After recovery, return to the same portal and sign in with your KRA PIN and the recovered or replacement password.

eCitizen Login Password: Use the eCitizen Account

At ecitizen.kra.go.ke, select Sign in, then Login with eCitizen. KRA's eCitizen guide uses the account's email address or ID number and the password created for eCitizen. The taxpayer portal's KRA PIN and password are a different sign-in route.

If you cannot remember the eCitizen password, use the recovery option on that official eCitizen sign-in screen. Resetting your eTIMS taxpayer-portal password will not recover your eCitizen account. After access is restored, return to KRA services and open Invoicing (eTIMS).

OTP Not Received

For eTIMS taxpayer-portal sign-up, KRA identifies the mobile number registered in iTax as the OTP destination. These checks are specific to that sign-up flow; follow the contact shown by eCitizen when recovering an eCitizen account.

  • Check that you can receive messages on your iTax-registered number. KRA says to update the mobile number through your iTax profile if you no longer have access to it.
  • Check promotional-message blocking on your phone or network account. KRA's FAQ specifically advises enabling promotional messages so the sign-up OTP can arrive.
  • Wait for the current request to complete before requesting another code. Use the latest valid code and keep it private.
  • If these checks do not resolve delivery, contact KRA with the portal name, time of the attempt and exact error. Do not send your password or OTP.

“eTIMS Request Closed” or an Unexplained Error

We could not verify a single official cause or universal fix for “eTIMS request closed” in the KRA guidance reviewed. The wording alone does not establish that an account is blocked, registration has failed, or an invoice was rejected.

Record the exact message, official website address, time, and action immediately before it appeared. If it followed an invoice submission or service request, check whether that record already exists before repeating the action. For a login-only error, try one fresh browser session after saving the error details.

Send KRA support the error and relevant request or invoice reference through an official support channel. Redact passwords, OTPs and unrelated taxpayer information from any screenshot. Ask which account or request needs attention before starting another registration.

Account Not Active or Invoicing Menu Missing

An eCitizen user may need to open the KRA service, select Invoicing (eTIMS), and complete the Activate E-Invoicing declarations shown in KRA's current eCitizen guide.

On the Taxpayer Portal, confirm that you signed into the intended taxpayer and that the required eTIMS solution or service request has completed. Eligibility and screens can differ by taxpayer profile.

Browser and Mobile Problems

  • Open the official page in a current browser and allow essential cookies for the login session.
  • If a page loops after login, close duplicate portal tabs and start one fresh session.
  • Disable aggressive content blockers for the official page only if they prevent required controls from loading.
  • On a shared device, sign out fully and remove downloaded tax documents before leaving.

Incorrect KRA PIN

A Kenyan KRA PIN normally has 11 characters. Compare every character with the taxpayer's PIN certificate; do not substitute a national ID, business registration number or buyer PIN.

If the portal displays another taxpayer after login, stop before issuing an invoice and confirm the profile and authority. An invoice raised under the wrong seller should not be fixed by editing the downloaded PDF.

How to Avoid Fake eTIMS Login Pages

  • Type etims.kra.go.ke, ecitizen.kra.go.ke or itax.kra.go.ke yourself, or follow a link from kra.go.ke.
  • Check HTTPS and the full hostname before entering a KRA PIN, password or OTP.
  • Treat misspelled domains, URL shorteners and login links sent by unsolicited SMS or WhatsApp as unsafe.
  • KRA credentials should never be entered into getrisiti.com. Risiti uses its own authentication.

When Risiti Is the Better Operational Fit

Solve the immediate access problem in the official portal first. If your business then needs repeat customers and items, explicit pending and failed states, accepted receipt PDFs, sharing and controlled retry handling, Risiti provides that day-to-day workflow through its own account.

Risiti remains independent software. It does not replace KRA's authority, iTax functions or official support, and it cannot guarantee KRA availability.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

Open a question to read the answer.

Why am I not receiving the eTIMS registration OTP?

KRA says to check access to your iTax-registered mobile number, update it through your iTax profile if necessary, and enable promotional messages. If delivery still fails, contact KRA through its official support channels.

What does eTIMS request closed mean?

The reviewed KRA guidance does not establish a universal meaning or fix. Keep the exact error and request reference, check whether the earlier action succeeded, and ask KRA support to investigate before duplicating a registration or invoice.

What is the official KRA eTIMS login URL?

The eTIMS Taxpayer Portal is https://etims.kra.go.ke/. Check the hostname before entering credentials.

Is the eTIMS password the same as my iTax password?

Do not assume it is. KRA's eTIMS portal guide refers to the password created during eTIMS sign-up. Use the reset flow on the specific portal if the password does not work.

Where is eTIMS on eCitizen?

Sign into the official KRA service on eCitizen and open Invoicing (eTIMS). First-time users may need to complete the activation step shown in KRA's guide.

Can Risiti reset my KRA password?

No. Risiti is independent software and cannot reset eTIMS, eCitizen or iTax credentials. Use the official destination or KRA support.
